Root Canals
Take prescription medications as directed.
It is common to have some discomfort in the tooth when chewing; this should subside after 2-3 days.
Make sure you follow up with a permanent filling or crown as recommended by the doctor.

Crowns
It is common to experience some temperature sensitivity after having your tooth prepared for a crown. This usually subsides over 2-3 days and sometimes can linger because the temporary crown does not seal the tooth as well as the permanent crown will.
If your temporary crown comes off you should call the office to have it recmented within a couple of days to prevent the teeth from shifting.

Extractions
Baby teeth -
Your child should not take part in any physical activity for at least one hour after extractions. They can chew on their other side for the first 1-2 days and should eat soft foods until they feel comfortable resuming their normal diet. They should not swim the day of their extraction. You can give them over the counter Tylenol or Motrin as directed on the bottle for any pain. Pain is usually non-existent or minimal with baby teeth extractions, bleeding is usually minimal and it is normal for the area to ooze for 12-24 hrs. If you have any concerns a doctor can be reached 24 hrs per day by calling the office phone number.

Permanent Teeth
Chew on the other side for 1-2 days and eat a soft diet until you feel comfortable returning to your normal diet. Take any prescription medication as directed. If you take over the counter medication Motrin works best. Do not smoke for 3 days and avoid spitting for three days. This is important to reduce the chance of a dry socket. If you experience severe pain a few days after the extraction this could be a sign a dry socket has formed and you should call the office.

Atlas Implants
Atlas implants are designed to immediately support and retain your denture. However, to allow for your mouth to heal and to accept the atlas implants, please follow a soft diet for the first 24 to 48 hours. Also please do not remove your denture for 4 days. This will allow the implants to become adopted without any disturbance. After the fourth day you should remove the denture 3 times each day, rinsing your mouth and cleaning your denture with a soft brush and toothpaste. Please report any discomfort to our office and return to our office for follow up care as directed. The Tuf-Link silicone liner should be replaced every 2 years. And of course you should see us for annual check ups.
